Cake
Image “Cake” by Sona Knox
Paint me a story that comes from your heart.
Make it beautiful and bold.
Or make it winsome and sweet.
Show me the small things that swell
To great significance in the remembering.
Tell me of exploding love and dire danger.
Whisper the secrets of your heart into the ear of my soul.
Bathe me in the luxury
of color and movement, feeling and song.
Pour your being into a tale
of heroines and heroes, villains and tricksters.
Show me how you have sifted life
And baked it into a phantasmagorical cake,
Piled high with layers and filled with
Insanely delicious secrets you’ve told no one.
Give me that little piece of you
You placed on the canvas,
Pretending it was just a pretty picture.
